Kentucky’s First-Ever Fashion Week just debuted in Lexington and the main event was tonight: a runway show featuring a roster of talented local designers. For a peek at my favorite looks from the show, read on.
The headline designer tonight was Dauphine of France Couture. Her looks were show-stopping pieces full of drama. Dauphine of France Couture has had her looks on the runways of New York during couture fashion week. Check out her runway show in New York last March:
The next featured designer was Samantha Jean Moore, a woman I know personally and admire here in Lexington. Her designs are inspired by recycled and reused fabrics. Samantha is an environmentally-conscious designer who sees the potential in discarded thrift store garments and turns them into one-of-a-kind unique pieces. I absolutely love her patch-work cape.
The runway show also featured menswear designer ALBERT LUKONGA. I was blown away by how talented he is. I know how difficult menswear is to design and create and I thought all of his models looked smashing.
The Bad Button Corsets presented her collection of romantic corsets. She makes custom corsets in her central Kentucky studio. She’s booked with orders until February 2017!
My other favorite of the night was the collection of luxe woolens by Feltloom.
La Sirena Designs showcased her fantasy-inspired looks.
And Ricardo Mendoza debuted this jaw-dropping look:
It was a very enjoyable evening of meeting new people and seeing all of the creativity Lexington and Kentucky have to offer. Who knows . . . maybe you’ll see my collection on the runway next year!
