Hello Everyone! October has not been a productive sewing month for me. For one thing, I’ve been out of town almost every weekend. First, I was in Cincinnati for Oktoberfest. Then I spent a weekend in Louisville with friends. Last weekend my boyfriend and I went to Asheville, North Carolina to celebrate our anniversary. This weekend is Halloween. And next weekend I am going to be in Chicago. Phew. That’s a lot of traveling. This has left me with hardly anytime at all to sew. On top of all that, I got a second kitten! We decided Lou Lou needed a buddy to keep her company during the day.
Meet Jack, everyone
I could not be happier to have not one but TWO kitty babies! But, these two cats have kept me very busy between vet visits to get their vaccinations and their fixin’s. Hopefully November will be a more productive sewing month for me.
Nevertheless, I still want to share a sewing project with you!
This fall cape is a project that I completed last year but before I started this blog so it never made it’s way onto the blogosphere until now.
Meet Simplicity 0311, a very easy and elegant cape project.
This project is quick and easy. Plus, the fact that it is fully lined means no hemming required! I have definitely been meaning to make another one of these.
The wool fabric and lining are from Hancock Fabrics. I chose to contrast the earthy tones of the wool fabric with a rich wine colored lining.
This pattern requires one button closure, which I also picked up at Hancock’s.
I haven’t seen this particular cape on any other sewing blogs. Have you spotted this elsewhere? Have you made this cape or any other cape? Burda has some really great looking cape patterns on their website that I’d love to try.
Stay tuned for next month’s post. I have a big DIY project to reveal. It’s not a sewing project but I still think it deserves a blog post. I can’t wait to share with all of you!!
What fall projects have you been sewing up?
