I finally fulfilled a dream of mine to fabric shop at Mood in New York City! It was everything I hoped it would be plus more.
Last weekend I went to New York City with some girlfriends and had a grand old time. One of the highlights was definitely Mood. I was like a kid in the candy store. Since there ain’t shit for shit as far as fabric shopping goes in Lexington, I decided to treat myself and just get 2.5 yards of whatever I wanted, within reason. There was so much beautiful fabric to look at it and the staff there was super helpful and friendly. Looking back at these pictures is making me salivate all over again.
Let me share with you some of my favorite fabric that I bought:
The neoprene was the most expensive purchase I made at $22/yard. I’ve never sewn with neoprene before, though, and I had really been wanting to try it. How cool is this print?
For this I’m thinking maybe another matching crop top/skirt combo.
I also bought this really pretty marc jacobs floral print poly satin. I’m thinking maybe a dress?
I bought a few yards of this anna sui cat and bird panel print. It’s very sheer. Not sure what I’ll make. Maybe a sheer blouse?
I picked up some other fabric, too, but these prints are my favorite. I’ll save my wool shopping for when I go to Minneapolis in the winter and swing by SR Harris. All in all, I bought 18.5 yards of fabric. It was so much fun!
Speaking of Mood, is anyone else watching Project Runway Season 14? Is there anyone you’re rooting for yet? I like Amanda Perna, Ashley Tipton, and Candice Cuoco. I was bummed that Hanmiao was eliminated the last episode. I thought she was really funny.
The other highlight from the weekend was dancing at one of New York City’s hottest night clubs, Le Bain at The Standard Hotel. I found a place to wear my crop top/skirt combo from my last post!
I absolutely cannot wait to go back to New York City!
